A group of Caterham Sea Cadets (and staff !) have joined others from Surrey District in Scarborough for the annual Summer Camp, spending the days on the water learning new boating skills and making new friends.
All cadets gained new boating qualifications but also took part in a wide range of other activities and trips and had loads of fun
Our Marine Cadets detachment had a very successful Summer Camp being taken out of their comfort zone and being taught new skills.
These included Field Craft serials with blank ammunition, map reading over long distances, spending the nights out in the woods under basha sheets and cooking ration packs and live firing on the ranges out to distances of 600m
There was also plenty of downtime where our cadets made new friends who they will meet up with on future cadet events
Note : Cadets are taught weapon-handing skills as part of a structured programme of supervised training that emphasises safe and responsible use
Congratulations to our Junior Boys team for winning silver medals in their races at the District Rowing Competition
Good luck to MC Lewis as he starts his 2 week voyage on TS Royalist going to France for the D-Day Commemorations
