Congratulations to both Sergeant James Groves and Cadet Sergeant Riley who have both completed and passed their RMC Drill Leaders Specialisation.

Over the course of two weekends at HMS Raleigh in Plymouth they have undergone intensive training and assessment on their knowledge of Drill, ability to undertake all drill movements, dress and bearing and most importantly their ability to teach using a set and prescribed method of instruction.

Over the weekend of 3rd to 5th July we had Cadets, Staff and Supporters were at the Kent County Show at Detling Showground raining funds for the unit and awareness of the unit and activities undertaken.

Fun was had by all who came to visit the assault course, take part in the tombola or learning some basic first aid skills.

Our Corps of Drums closed the event with a display to the general public and VIPs

Cadets, Staff and Volunteers from the unit once again took to CVhatham Historic Dockyard for main Armed Forces Day Celebrations in West Kent.  With our promotional stall and activities we engaged with the local public highlighting what we do and the experiences our cadets get.  The Mayor of Medway also paid us a visit.

Forming up with the rest of West Kent District we also took part in the main parade too.

A hot but extremely worthwhile day was had by all. 

On Tuesday 16th June we were pleased to welcom The Not Forggotten to the Unit.  They are one of the UK's oldest military veteran charities in the UK and we share a common Royal Patron in HRH The Princess Royal.

Alyson Smith, The Community Fundraiser for the Charity started by giving the cadets and staff a history of the charity and what they do.  This was followed by two veterans talking about their military careers and how the charity has helped them in civilian life too.

Lots of questions were asked by our cadets durig an engaging envening.

Congratulations to our newest Cadet Sergeant, Riley, on his promotion.  This is the pinnacle achievement in the Royal Marines Cadet Experience and the highest rank that our cadets can achieve.

Following an arduous weekend of assessments in Fieldcraft, Navigation and Weapons Handling Skills, his promotion was confirmed to him by the Officer Commanding RMC Support Company on Sailsbury Plain.
