Merchant Navy Day & Monthly Divisions

Last night we not only held our monthly divisions, but were also honoured to host a special service celebrating Merchant Navy Day, organised by our Unit Padre, Father Denis, and Unit President/Royal British Legion, Margate Branch Vice Chairman, Lt Cdr Kevin Martin RNR (Rtd).

The evening began with a moving service led by Father Denis, with readings and prayers delivered effortlessly by AJC Goddard-Masters and Cdt Stemple. This was followed by some delicious refreshments, kindly served by members of our UMT and parents, thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special.

The second part of the evening showcased a fantastic performance by the one and only TS Jamaica Band, followed by presentations celebrating ordinary people who did extraordinary things at sea, including Grace Darling and Austin Appelbee. 

A huge well done to AC Masood, AC Green, AC Turner, MC Stokes, OC Couzens and Cpl Green for their presentations.
We then finished the evening by recognising the achievements of our cadets throughout the month.

Green Modules:
AJC Goddard-Masters, who now turns his focus towards completing his Commodores Pennant.
OC Couzens - who recently attended Summer Camp and successfully completed not only her Beginners PT qualification, but also her Intermediate PT qualification. fantastic results.
AC Masood - who also attended summer camp and completed his Power Level 2 Boating Qualification. 

Promotions:
Well done to Cdt Paul and Cdt Stemple, who have completed their NEC syllabus in order for them the be enrolled as cadets, they recited the cadet promise in front of our guests and cadets to be promoted to Cdts. We look forward to seeing you both progress and enjoy your cadet experience.

Finally, a special well done to our standard bearers, AC Goddard-Masters and LC Hards-Morris, who carried the Unit standard and also the Towns Standard.

Another brilliant night celebrating our heritage, our cadets and the achievements of young people.

We would also like to thank all our guests and parents who joined us for the celebration, Deputy Lieutenant Clive Stevens, the Mayor of Margate Cllr Leo Britcher. Vice Presidents Mac Wilkinson and Micheal Bon. 

As always it is a tremendous honor and privelage to continue to support our Town, and Town Mayor, as a Unit who is fortunate enough to have the Town Mayor as one of our Units Honourary Vice-Presidents, but also for this year, a Mayors Cadet representing our Unit, by supporting the Mayor, our close partnership/collaboration with the Town of Margate, its Mayor, the Office of Mayor, and the Charter Trustees, we are proud to take part in the various Civic Parades and Services throughout the year.

Yesterday our cadets attended the Mayor of Margate Civic Parade and Service at St Johns Margate, during the event the Royal British Legion, Margate Branch Standard was blessed. It is great to continue to support both Mayor, and the Towns Branch of the Royal British Legion.

Our band proudly led the parade from Mill Lane to St Johns the Baptist Church, whereby the service was conducted by Fr Leigh Daynes and Fr Denis Hartley (Unit Padre), which included readings by Cadets.

Well done to the Standard bearers OC Lloyd and LC Hards-Morris to whom carried our Unit and Margate Town Standards. Also photographed is the Margate RBL Branch Standard Bearer to whom is also a CFAV with the Unit
