We've had a busy couple of weeks for TS Sheffield!

We've had a busy couple of weeks for TS Sheffield!

On the 10th of July we held our RNP and welcomed the Area Officer on board.

Last Thursday we held our annual Unit Fun Day and welcomed the cadet's families and friends on board for a BBQ, a bit of karaoke and a go on some inflatables.

Following that, we held our annual Unit Summer Camp over the weekend.

It started on Friday with a trip to the Sheffield Aqua Park where the cadets and staff had a blast as always and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

On Saturday and Sunday, we were down at Sea Cadets Thrapston Boat Station where the cadets were taking part in sailing, windsurfing, and paddlesport. They had a great time and gained boating qualifications from this!

Thank you to all the adult volunteers that made this weekend possible.

District Naval Experience Week

District Naval Experience Week

Last week, 5 of our cadets joined cadets from around the district at HMS Raleigh for a Naval Experience week.

They got the opportunity to test themselves and see what Royal Navy recruits experience during phase 1 training.

The week consisted of taking on CHAOS (the damage control simulator), sea survival training, HMS Raleigh's assault course, plus tours and visits to ships, schools, and other areas.

Thank you to the 3 adult volunteers for giving up their time and facilitating this amazing week.

Sheffield Armed Forces Day 25

Sheffield Armed Forces Day 25

Well done to all our amazing cadets and adult volunteers who attended this years Sheffield Armed Forces Day.

On the 21st of June, members of ships company attended Sheffield's Armed Forces Day to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community including currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and fellow cadet forces.

They had the opportunity to meet and chat with the new Sheffield Lord Mayor, Cllr Safiya Saeed, and Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Lt Colonel Mac McPherson MBE, after the parade. Some of them even hopped in a SYFR fire engine.

Sheffield Lord Mayor joins Sea Cadets on the Water

Another wonderful evening spent on the water yesterday and we were honored to have been joined by The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Jayne Dunn, for the evening. Lord Mayor Jayne Dunn

As part of her final few days in office before her term is up, she wanted to experience what it was like to be a Sea Cadet for the evening and join her Mayoral Cadet, Able Cadet Plant, and the other cadets on the water. ⛵🌊

It was great to have had so many cadets out on the water and to be able to share the experience with the Lord Mayor.

HMS Sheffield Parade 2025

HMS Sheffield Parade 2025

Yesterday, the ships company joined veterans, the Sheffield Lord Mayor and local dignitaries to commemorate the sinking of HMS Sheffield (D80) in the falklands conflict.

We payed tribute to the 20 sailors that lost their lives during the conflict in 2 services, one outside at the memorial and one inside the cathedral during the main service.

A special mention to Able Cadet Warman on delivering a reading in front of a full cathedral. This young man has come on leaps and bounds since joining us over 3 years ago and to be able to deliver such a well read piece is a great achievement.

Our Officer in Charge, CPO (SCC) Hammond-Kaye, commented saying “he was amazing and exemplary”.

Thank you to all the cadets for a great turn out.

BZ all 👏
