The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

We have a BIG announcement to make…

Sheffield Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets are delighted to announce that we have received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2022 for our volunteers working with children and young people in South Yorkshire.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK and we couldn’t be more privileged and honoured to receive it.

Each year, outstanding examples of this work are celebrated through the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). Created in 2002 for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, QAVS awards have been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups for many years.

Unit Activities

Yesterday our Unit was open for a varity of activites. The Juniors made use of our outdoor space creating a home for BUGS. The Marines detatchment was being done-up, sea cadets Divisional rooms decorated and much more.
All in all a productive day, with special thanks to all the Adult Volunteers who gave their time to help with it all.

Juniors Boating Weekend

Sheffield Junior Sea Cadets & Staff went to Doncaster for a fun weekend. Joining Units from across the District, it was a chance to try rowing, sailing and powerboating.
The weather was great and everyone got on (and sometime in!) the water.
Thanks to our hosts and South Yorkshire Staff & Senior Cadets for making it happen.

As they raced, Sheffield Sea Cadets and staff were on hand, awarding the thousands of medals to finishing competitors. (Helping with the huge clean-up afterwards too!)
