What an amazing day at the RNLI Pirates Day! Last Saturday

Our cadets had an absolute blast joining in with all the fun at the RNLI Pirates Day! From meeting the RNLI mascot to paddling in the sea and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere, there were smiles all around.

A huge thank you to everyone at the @weston_super_mare_rnli for putting on such a brilliant event and for all the incredible work you do to keep our coastlines safe.

A warm welcome aboard to the six new Junior Cadets who were enrolled into TS Weston and the Sea Cadet Corps last night!

We are delighted to have you join our unit and look forward to seeing you develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and enjoy the many opportunities that lie ahead.

Congratulations Tristan for being promoted to Cadet 1st Class and achieving your basic first aid qualification.

If you suddenly fall into cold water, try not to panic or swim hard straight away — especially if you’re not wearing a buoyancy aid.

Cold water shock can make you gasp and feel out of control during the first minute or two.

Instead:

• Float on your back

• Tilt your head back with your ears in the water

• Use your hands to help keep yourself afloat

• Focus on calming your breathing

Once the initial shock has passed, call for help or swim to safety if you’re able to.

Remember: Float to Live — it could save your life.

Huge congratulations to 3 of our cadets who between them have received awards in powerboating, rock climbing, hill walking and first aid, as well as a promotion to cadet first class!
