SEA CADETS BUY NEW TOPPER THANKS TO LOCAL SUPPORT

Fishguard Sea Cadets have been fortunate to purchase a new Topper Sailing Dinghy, which is the entry level sailing boat to learn sailing and develops skills like confidence and self-discipline as well as learning how to handle a sailing boat on your own. We would like to thank the following organisations for their support in purchasing this New Topper Sailing Dinghy :- Valero Refinery, Stena Line, Goodwick Youth Bank, Fishguard & Goodwick Roundtable and an anonymous donation. We are so very grateful to you all and without your support, we couldn’t grow our activities. This new Topper is truly a community funded boat and underpins our commitment to the communities we serve.

Fishguard Cadets attend High Sheriff...

Cadets from Fishguard, along with our Friends at Milford Haven Sea & Royal Marine Cadets and Aberystwyth Sea Cadets took part in the High Sheriff inauguration at Cardigan Castle on Wednesday 12th April. Also present were the Army Cadets and Air Cadets from local Dyfed units.

The cadets took part in lining the route and other official duties. The Lord Lieutenants cadet Huw was also in attendance as the Lord Lt herself was there.

This was a great PR event for the Sea Cadets and thank you to West Wales DO Lt Cdr S Gittins for organising. The cadets are pictured below during official duties and also with the new High Sheriff and Lord Lt

Fishguard Juniors Visit Milford Haven Coastguard

Fishguard Junior Section recently visited Milford Haven Coastguard, where they witnessed a real time incident, which was unfolding of Sully Island, Penarth. The juniors watched as the Officers despatched a local Coastguard Team to investigate an incident with two people on a small boat drifting, which had been reported by someone walking the coastal path. The juniors watched as the incident was co-ordinated from Milford Haven. We would like to thank them for their hospitality and explaining about the role and work of the coastguard.

District First Aid Competition - Winners

Fishguard entered the West Wales District First Aid Competition held at Port Talbot on 2nd April. This is only the second time we have entered having first entered last year and coming 5th. This is a fantastic achievement for the unit and to win in our second year of entry, clearly demonstrates the importance that we place on First Aid Training and awareness. We would also like to thank PO Callard for training the team. The team was Cdt Kyle, Ordinary Cadet Kiera, Ordinary Cadet Emma and Able Cadet Jake, Jake took part in the Individual competition and came runner up by 1 point. Commanding Officer Chris Peake said this is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of the cadets. Unfortunately this year there is no Tri Service event to progress to, but we will be targeting this for 2018.
