FISHGUARD UNIT INSPECTION 2015

Tuesday Night the 13th October saw our Inspection (Unit Review). This years was carried out by Lt Cdr (SCC) S Gittins RNR, Lt (SCC) S Oglesby RNR and Lt Cdr (SCC) M Hulonce RNR. After Inspection of the Guard and Divisions, the cadets put on a display in Rowing, Drill, Hornpipe, Semaphore and First Aid. After Evening Colours Lt Cdr Gittins addressed the ships company. She thanked everyone for their support. There was a great turnout of parents, cadets, Committee members, P&SA, Guests and VIPs.

BR Go Row 1-2 Sliding Seat & Rowing Coxswain...

7 Cadets from Fishguard recently attended the above Weekend, 5 Cadets achieved the Go Row 1 & 2 and 2 Cadets achieved their Rowing Coxswains qualifications. Well done to All.

 

Cardboard Kayak Comp 2015

For the second year, we took part in a Cardboard Kayak Competition. Our Entry did very well this year and Cadet Molly Phillips did extremely well, winning the Destruction Derby and being the last Kayak afloat. The event was a huge success and we would like to thank Anthony Goddard from Kayak King for organising and for presenting the proceeds from this event to Fishguard. Anthony is seen opposite presenting the money to the OIC.

SUCCESS AT WEST WALES SWIMMING COMPETITION

The unit recently took part in the West Wales District Swimming Competition, the unit did extremely well winning every category including the Junior Sea Cadet Competition. We picked up many medals and also the overall competition winners. Very well done to everyone. Fantastic Result!

WEST WALES DISTRICT ROYALIST CRUISE R36

4 Cadets from Fishguard recently went offshore for a week on board the new T/S Royalist. The 4 cadets Liam, Huw, Rhys and Rhodri joined cadets from West Wales district on a weeks voyage from Plymouth to Brixham. During the week cadets will have undertook training in watch keeping, Navigation, Seamanship, Climbing the rigging and many other activities.

We would very much like to thank the following for assisting with sponsorship for this voyage. Rhys Price and Bethan Price from "Voyages of Discovery" St Davids and also the Blakiston family owners of the Sloop Inn, Bishops, Farmers Arms and Cross Hotel St Davids. Your very generous help and support is very much appreciated and ensured that these cadets are able to undertake these life changing opportunities.
