Bridlington Bonanza

Bridlington Bonanza

The Unit won a "bus for the day" from Transdev - the local bus network supplier and they used it to transport the cadets to and from Bridlington where the band played for The 8th destroyer squadron annual re union. This time however we used it as a staff and families day out and to say thankyou to all the parents and friends who support the unit with transportation, catering, sewing on badges etc. It was a great day out at the seaside, the sun shone on the day, fish and chips were eaten in abundance , pleasure boats were hired and staff cadets parents and Unit management committee had time to get to know each other. Many thanks to Transdev for making this happen.

Blubberhouses Duck Race July

Blubberhouses Duck Race July

For the 2nd year running The Unit was a chosen Charity for Blubberhouses Cricket Club annual Duck Race. We sold tickets, had a stall on the day and cadets took part in races, welly wanging (a sport only known to Yorkshire folk) and egg throwing. Over £200 was raised and all who participated had a great time.

Recreating History

Recreating History

Some members of the Band played recently at an awards night for Cedar Court Hotels employees. The "Only" difference to their normal repetoire was that they had to play "The Grand Old Duke of York" and wear costume from the 19th century. They wore the uniforms and played the tune impeccably and the audience loved it. Adaptable or what? That's Harrogate Sea Cadets for you.

Well done to all who won awards, all who were nominated and for the high standards set by everyone else which meant the winners really had to work it!

Trafalgar Square Parade

Trafalgar Square Parade

Yet again Harrogate TS Cleopatra sent 4 cadets and 1 staff member to take part in the Annual National Trafalgar Day Parade at Trafalgar Square in London. 2 days training in the company of other cadets from all over Britain culminated in a very colourful and immaculate parade under the watchful eye of Admiral Lord Nelson in the square. They then all paraded down The Mall and past Buckingham Palace. Its another example of the wonderful prestigious opportunites that are given to Sea Cadets.
