Goldieslie Freemasons

Goldieslie Freemasons

Today, our Chairman, Commaning Officer and 1st Lieutenant sat down for a meal with the Goldieslie Freemasons, as well as other charities, in a first of its kind discussion.

The Goldieslie Freemasons sat with our Command Team and discussed our plans for the next few years. After this discussion took place, they have offered their support with our plans moving forward.

Creating bonds with local Charities, 2019 is looking brighter than ever with the support of Sutton Coldfield.

Last Parade 2018

Today, our cadets rejoiced and celebrated as 2018 came to a close for Sutton Coldfield Unit.

Organised by our Senior Cadets, the ships company explored the park throughout the day, having to complete tasks and trivia. 'Operation Reindeer Rescue' was put into place.

After a funfilled day, the cadets sat down for a final meal and finished with a visit from Santa Clause!

Thank you all for a brilliant 2018, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Remembrance Parade 2018

Today, our cadets joined with other cadet forces, schools, public services and the public of Sutton Coldfield to celebrate and remember 100 years since World War 1 ended.

Standing proudly on the Cenotaph, our cadets wore their poppies with pride as we give thought to those who gave their lives so that we could live ours.

Pre-RNP 2018

Pre-RNP 2018

This evening, we have our Pre-RNP. This is when a member of the District team attends our parade night to see if we are prepared for our Royal Naval Parade, which is being held in October 2018.

Our cadets turned out in full, with six partaking in the guard and five partaking in the duty crew. Completing the ceremonial section, they were praised for their self-discipline, as well as their smart and seamanlike appearence. Following this, the cadets began piecing their evolutions together to create the event for the evening.

Our cadets paraded proudly and showed the District that T.S. Sutton Coldfield are gaining headway as we head towards our Royal Naval Parade.

National Combined Regatta 2018

National Combined Regatta 2018

This weekend, our Open Boys Rowing Team atteneded the National Competition held at the Excel Center in London.

With Rowing Training once a week, they completed additional fitness sessions to prepare themselves for the competition. Working together and motivating each other each step of the way, they arrived to the day of the National Competition nervous.

After a losing a crutch and striking a buoy, the Open Boys team pulled through and won their first race. After a small break, they returned to the water to complete their second race.

After a fault with one of the crutch plates, which ensured the rowers could row, the team was now down to three rowers. Pulling together, under guidance of the coxswain, they successfully won their second race.

With tensions running high heading into the final race, they faced the contenders for first, second and third place. With a powerful start, they took the lead. One of their competitors pulled back into the race as they matched our Open Boys' speed. Neck-and-neck until the end, our Open Boys found the energy and pushed through the tiredness and fatigue to cross the finish line.

Taking the gold and the National Trophy, they made South West Area Proud, Warwickshire proud and Sutton Coldfield Unit Proud.
