Cadets attend Sea Sunday Service

On the 8th July on Goodwick Seafront the cadets attended a Sea Sunday Service, which not only recognised all those seafaring organisations, but also marked the end of the 1st World War, which is 100 years this year and marks the start of a series of events and services to mark this very important date. The Sea Cadets as always looked very smart. Junior Cadet Maegan did helped with the reading, Able Cadet Thomas carried the Standard and Ordinary Cadet Emily and Able Cadet Molly helped with the collection.

It was great to see the Sea Cadets representing not just the Senior Service, but also the Youth of Fishguard & Goodwick at this service

Cadets attend Mayor's Inauguration

We were very proud to be part of the Mayor's Inauguration on the 7th July. New Mayor Councillor Jordon Ryan has specifically asked the Youth Organisations to be part of his day. Even though some of the Unit was away at the Area Rowing we were delighted to be in attendance and support him. The cadets looked smart in their half blues as temperatures soured in to the mid twenties.

As well as Commanding Offficer present CI Osian Smith Assisted and MAyor's cadet Evie was also in attendance.

District Sailing & Windsurfing Competition

On Saturday 30th June 9 Cadets from Fishguard went to take part in the West Wales District Sailing Competition.The competition took part at Tata Lake Sailing Club in Port Talbot. This year's team was the biggest for a number of years. The competition involves 4 races in each category, and then the lowest scoring position out of the 4 races is then discarded. Fishguard team did exceptionally well once again with following results.

RS Quest Class (Freya Terry and Jack Wright) 2nd Place and RS Quest Class (Tomos Davies and Finn Robarts) 3rd Place

Topper Class (Amelia Grant-Jones) Winner and Topper Class (Huw Davies) 4th Place

Pico Class (Evie Jones) Winner

Junior Topper Class (Gabriel Bingham) 2nd Place

Windsurfing 4.5m Sail (Mia Childs) Winner

Overall a brilliant day, with some challenging conditions, Winners and Runners up now go through to the Area Competition which is on 21st July

Tom and Mum Raise money for Unit

Cdt 1st Tom and his Mum Melanie took part recently in a sponsored abseil down Pembroke Castle. The event is organised each year by The Overhang in Tenby, which is an indoor climbing wall, but they organise two of these climbs annually for charities to riase funds, whilst the entry fees goes to their own nominated charity. Tom and his Mum decided to take part to riase much needed funds for Kayaking Equipment. We are so very grateful to them for all their hard work and efforts, it truly is a selfless thing which they have done, and the unit is extremely grateful for their support.

Fun Day Success

On Saturday 23rd June, Fishguard Sea Cadets took part in the Roundtable Funday, we had various stalls as well as taking part in the Raft Race and other activities. The weather was perfect and it made for a very successful day. The Commanding Officer thanked the cadets that helped and also wanted to mention the extremely hard work put in by the Parents and Supporters Association and the adult volunteers on the day. Without your full support on the day we wouldn't be able to do what we do, and I am so very grateful to you all
