⚓ T.S. IRON DUKE – Sea Cadets Announcement ⚓

We are proud to announce that, having successfully completed all required training, Colour Sergeant Wheeler has officially stepped up from Officer in Charge to become our Commanding Officer.

Throughout her time as OiC, she has shown outstanding leadership, commitment, and dedication to the unit. We are delighted to see her take on this permanent role and lead T.S. IRON DUKE forward.

What an incredible weekend at the for our Cadets and Staff at Zulu Company Royal Marines Cadets Spring Camp at Pippingford Park Training Camp!

Over 200 cadets and staff came together to take part in challenging and rewarding fieldcraft training, all in perfectconditions. It was great to see newer cadets building confidence and learning essential skills, while our more experienced cadets pushed themselves even further.

Our Cadets where especially pleased to welcome and meet SSO Cdr (SCC) Ray Mitchell RNR and the Area Chaplain, who enjoyed seeing the cadets in action.

Bravo Zulu to everyone involved – a fantastic effort all round!

Cadets are taught weapons handling as part of a structured, fully supervised training programme delivered by qualified Skill at Arms Instructors, with a strong emphasis on safe and responsible use.

A very successful weekend for our Juniors working towards their CREST awards and STEM proficiencies!

This weekend we…

- Created paper maché volcanoes, painted them and then made them erupt!

- Learnt about the strength of triangles and made geodesic domes and then ate the evidence

- Made paper gliders and competed to see whose could fly the furthest

- Tested how much salt it would take to make our eggs float in water

- Made our own slime!!!!

- Tested the thermal qualities of different materials in ice water

- Learnt about the different phases of the moon

- Put our air-powered balloon cars to the test around an obstacle course

What an incredible experience for one of our own…

Corporal Evan, Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the Southern Area and one of our very own Marine Cadets, was invited to assist the Lord Lieutenant at the Mountbatten Festival of Music 2026 — a truly prestigious occasion.

We are immensely proud to see one of our cadets representing not only our Unit, but the wider Sea Cadet family at such a high-profile event. Well done, Evan! 👏
